SESSION INFORMATION

Newborn Session Includes:

All Newborn Sessions included: pre-session consultation in person or by phone, use of newborn studio props & baskets, your portrait session, post-session retouching and preparation of your images and a private viewing/ordering appointment at our studio.

Props, Blankets, and Knits:

The studio has a variety of props and include: posing baskets, custom knit hats and head pieces, baby swaddling blankets, custom made clothing pieces, and backdrops. We can also cast your baby belly in advance and create a one of a kind photograph for you of your newborn baby that you will cherish for a lifetime.

The Photo Shoot:

On the day of your newborn baby’s photoshoot, we will photograph your baby in our warm studio. The photo shoot will range from 3 to 4 hours. Your newborn will be photographed by Rosaria DeNova (not an intern or another photographer) in our studio.

Heirloom Albums, Collections, & Digitals:

We carry only the finest products available. Our hand-made, Made In Italy Albums and Folio’s are custom made to order. They feature the best Italian leathers, crystal, and wood grains. Our Wall Art collections are also hand-made and feature beautiful modeling, mounts, and premium canvas. Digital files are complimentary and are included with each item purchased.

Investment:

Our Newborn Portrait Photography Session start at $225 for one newborn. Multiplies are additional. Matted Portraits start at $275 and Collections start at $1495. Everything purchased includes the digital version. What you choose to purchase is entirely up to you, there are no order minimums. Newborn photography brings so much joy to my life. They are curled up sleepy little beings with the tiniest hands, fingers, feet and toes. The way they nuzzle into the curve of your neck when you hold them makes you melt and do everything in your being to make sure they are fully cared for. That newborn baby smell that you can never seem to get enough of. Each Newborn Baby I photography brings me back to memories of when my own children were born.

As parents of Newborns, everyday life becomes a blur. Your baby is feeding nearly every 3 hours and you are running on very little sleep. It may not feel like it in the moment, but I can assure you that Newborn phase passes in the blink of an eye. Just a couple of months later, you will be asking yourself where the time went when they were so little. This is the very reason I am so passionate about capturing those first portraits just a few days after your baby is born. They are only that little once and those first few weeks are fleeting moments. It is the last time they will ever be that little again.

Newborn Portrait FAQs

What is Rosaria’s Newborn Photography Style?
Rosaria’s style is classic and timeless. She welcomes your input and any special items you have can also be incorporated. We want these images to look amazing in your home for years to come. When you come in for a session we review all options available ask that you choose the blankets, props and clothing to ensure that the style is to your liking.
When to Book Your Newborn Session
We ask clients to call us when they are 3 to 4 months from their due date. We will then schedule your tentative date. Once your baby is born, please call us with the arrival date and weight so we can plan for the exact date of your session if anything has changed. Rosaria understands that babies have their own delivery schedules. Babies are best photographed in the first 7 to 10 days, but this is dependent upon the weight. Smaller babies (5/6 pounds) may be photographed around 12-14 days, while bigger babies (9+ pounds) should be photographed within the first 5-7 days. If you are interested in all of the cute squishy baby poses then you should want to come within the first 5-7 days. We are sensitive to Mamas recovery and we will work with you to schedule your newborn session.
Newborn Sessions and Baby Feeding
Mamas are generally instructed to do most of the feeding at our studio so that baby is nice and relaxed. We love a hungry baby! We want this beautiful new baby to relax and feed in our studio or if we are going to you, just before we arrive. This way we can start with an outfit or wrap while they digest and then continue on as they are nice and comfortable. With that being said, if you want baby naked, then at some point they will poop or pee! And it’s ok!! We are so used to it and it truly doesn’t bother us – we just grab another blanket! We also use heaters and white noise to help soothe babies. We suggest using Eucerin on babies skin in the morning after a bath to keep everything soft and smooth.  We want to show your baby in the best possible natural light and will only retouch upon request. Extensive retouching may require an additional fee.
How Long are Newborn Sessions?
Newborn sessions generally take about 2 to 3 hours. The session can go over or under the 2 hours, as we will not rush and allow for plenty of time. After shooting for so many years, Rosaria has a very fluid style of shooting and allows for cute props, transitions and tons of poses.
Does Rosaria Provide Props for Newborn Sessions?
Yes!  At Rosaria DeNova Photography we provide props for your newborn baby photography session.  So there is no need to worry about bringing anything with you.  All items are laundered after each use with Dreft to ensure a healthy and clean environment for your baby.  However, should you want to bring additional props with you or items of a sentimental nature, please feel free to do so and we can incorporate it into your session.
How do you get Newborns to pose like that?
We always want babies to be safe – as everyone should – and with the many cute baby poses you see, please know that there is retouching involved on our end, and babies are never put in harmful positions. We love babies as natural as they can be, and we also adore many cute modern poses. We can not guarantee that your baby will corporate to obtain a certain pose and that is OK with us. Your baby will tell Rosaria what he or she is willing to do. Rosaria will never push a baby into an uncomfortable situation. We always give a pose a try, but if baby is not feeling it – we simply move on.
Newborn Clothing for Family Members
Clothing for parents and siblings is best when it is nice and simple, and free of patterns or stripes. It is best to wear colors that will look great when the artwork is displayed in the home. Light or dark colors, work equally well. Little ones are best kept bare feet. We love dresses/tutus for little girls. For boys, simple jeans and solid t’s are recommended.
Twins and Multiplies Information
We adore newborns, and add multiples to the mix and we are in Heaven! While we know the arrival of twins or triplets can be overwhelming, we still urge parents to come in early. Depending upon the birth weight and if the twins were full term or not, will depend on the time frame. Twins are usually photographed between 2-3 weeks or while 6-7lbs. Newborn multiples sessions may take a bit longer then the typical newborn session, but all of the soothing tricks and timed feedings still apply. We will go over all of the wonderful details when you call to schedule or inquire.
